Saskatoon Asian Restaurant

posted by My Saskatoon    |   October 6, 2015 12:15
With new ownership in September 2014, Saskatoon Asian Restaurant provides quick service in a welcoming environment. Located on 2nd Avenue, it is the perfect spot for a short lunch break downtown or business meeting.
We sat down with owner Kit Vong to chat about the way the restaurant has changed under new ownership. Here are a few questions that we had asked but make sure to read the entire Feature Business Article to learn more about Saskatoon Asian Restaurant and more photos of the space and delicious food!

How has Saskatoon Asian Restaurant changed since you took over?

Since we took ownership six months ago, I would say that the biggest change would be speed of service. The cooks haven’t changed, so the food has stayed the same, but people who are in a hurry can now get a meal here on a half hour lunch break. We serve a lot of business people in the downtown core of Saskatoon, so it is nice for those who have limited time to be able to come up here and have lunch really quickly. Our goal is to provide prompt service, but in a laid back atmosphere where people can have a business meeting and linger as long as they’d like, without having to worry about getting their meal in time if they need to leave.

Do you serve dinner as well?

We are open until 9:00 in the evening, offering both dinner service and takeout. We deliver anywhere in Saskatoon as well, for those people who don’t want to leave the house! We have a lot of regulars who work or live downtown and like to walk over for their favourite lunch or dinner dish.

What would you say the most popular dishes are?
People love our vermicelli noodle bowls for lunch, and our sate noodle soups are really good. My personal favourite would be the sate chicken rice noodle soup. And I ate basil chicken every day for a while!

Fall Foodie Friday: Reeces Pieces Blondies

posted by My Saskatoon    |   October 2, 2015 09:02

It is officially October and it only means one thing: Halloween. If you  are attending any festivities this month and need a dessert to bring, then try out the Reeces Pieces Blondie. It has everything that we love;  chocolate, peanut butter and of course, the blondie.

We all know the infamous White Chocolate Brownie at Moxies, well this is similar but kicked up a notch. Because, who doesn't love Reeces Pieces?

This simple and quick recipe will have you wanting seconds and thirds and quite possible never baking brownies again. Brownies are out, Blondies are in!

Reeces Pieces Blondie:     Recipe Source: lilluna.com

   Ingredients:

  • ½ c butter, softened
  • 2 c brown sugar
  • ½ c peanut butter
  • 2 lg eggs
  • 1 TB vanilla
  • 2⅛ c flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ c Reeses Pieces
  • ½ c chocolate chips

    Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine butter and brown sugar. Add the peanut butter and stir to combine. Mix in the eggs and vanilla. Stir well.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Stir into the batter.
  3. Pour in the Reeses Pieces and chocolate chips. Gently mix.
  4. Evenly spread batter into a greased 9x13 pan.
  5. Bake at 350 for about 30 min or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool.

If you are not a peanut butter fan then add chocolate chips or M&M's to the bowl instead. There are always ways to change up the recipe but given that it is Halloween season, the Reeces Pieces tie in nicely!

Want To Feel Like A Kid Again?

posted by My Saskatoon    |   August 5, 2015 13:32

One year shy of 130 years in production, the Ex is back in Saskatoon again gracing us with it's bright lights and the lingering smell of deep fried mars bars. The festival is on from August 4th-9th bringing you non-stop entertainment for all ages!

The Gates open at 12:00pm and close at 12:00am so there is enough time to enjoy the rides, food, music and talent. The main stage brings you bands like Hedley, Marianas Trench, Magic and Dean Brody. All tickets to these shows are free with general admission to the festival so all you need to worry about is finding a close enough spot to the stage to get the attention of your favourite band member. If you are a foodie then simply come for the variety of carnival treats you will only get once a year like elephant ears, cotton candy and caramel apples! Rumour has it there is a new roller coaster added to the lineup of rides that is sure to make you scream. Feel the fear amongst the children and venture into the Haunted House because sometimes a little adrenaline rush is good for the soul.

There is so much to see at the Ex this year, you will not want to miss out! Click here www.saskatoonexhibition.ca for information on admission, rides and live entertainment.

So if you find yourself in Saskatoon this weekend without any plans, head out to the Ex, even if its just for a tarot card reading.
